For each summons that can be certified, the practice prepares a correction pack for that summons: the correction evidence the filing must carry, assembled in one place.
A Certificate of Correction is filed in DOB NOW: Safety, and the Department of Buildings' Administrative Enforcement Unit approves it or rejects it. A rejection leaves the violation open and the clocks running. The pack assembles what the filing must carry for one summons:
Some summonses are past-conduct items: work done after hours without a variance, a notice that was not given. There is no physical condition to photograph, and a notice that was not given cannot be given after the fact.
For those, the pack assembles what does exist: the records of what happened and the corrective procedure now in place. It flags the summons as penalty-track first, with certification treatment left to the Administrative Enforcement Unit's standard response, instead of promising a certification the record cannot support.
The pack is preparation. The summons closes when the Certificate of Correction is filed and approved, and the penalty track is resolved. Paying alone does not close it. What closes an ECB summons sets out both tracks.
The packs are prepared as part of the Open-Violation File, $399 flat per license record, or start with a record review request.
